Back

Pull at my seams and unravel me.
We both know that your eager eyes have spotted me,
Have seen the loose thread of my armor and smiled.
We both know that your impatient fingers itch
To pull on the thread and make me come undone,
Turn me into a puddle at your feet and drink me up.
We both know you're uninterested in what I hold dear,
In the armor I spent years perfecting and polishing
Until it is nothing more than a mirror,
Until I am nothing more than what you want me to be...
And yet, you itch to pull at me and claw at my skin,
To leave scars on my flesh and mark me as yours
Until no one can look at me without seeing you.
Pull at me until I explode into a million pieces of thread
That will never be sown back into the same pattern,
Until your expert fingers weave me into something completely different,
Until I look nothing like myself....
Until you love me back.
