Godless

Call me a heathen, a creation of humankind,
And allow me to cater to the multitude of pantheons
For I am godless, faithless, and cannot be trusted.
Thrust me into a society that rejects the very concept of friendship,
A place in which no one trusts another,
Remember, I'm a godless, hedonistic creation.
Reject me, for I am unlike you and cannot reject another
Based on the faith of a god trusting society.
I believe that neither the Romans, the Greeks, nor the Egyptians
Knew how things would turn out,
But trusted their gods with the fate of their lives,
And look what happened to them.
Push me into another religion,
For I need to be taught what I need to believe,
For I need to be disciplined, like a sheep,
I need to be taught my ideas and thoughts....
To walk with the heard, unquestioning.
Fear me, for I am a godless creator,
I, like my kids, am still a blank sheet
Ready and willing to be written upon,
With black ink, not red,
For the blood of the gods have not erased my sins,
And I will not live in fear
Of gods that have long since turned to dust.

Call me a heathen, a creation of humankind,
And allow me to cater to none but myself
For I am godless, faithless, and cannot be trusted.
Discard me to the margins of society,
For I have never accepted what you have tried to teach,
But look at yourself, what you have created,
Children that hate based on skin and dress,
Children that fear ideas and baseless claims,
And children that fight with each other
To gain access to a mansion in an invisible sky.
Remember, my friends, that I am a godless hedonistic fool,
With no basis for my assumptions,
A defective machine that was not programed right,
And instead, has now learned to question everything.

Call me a heathen, a creation of humankind,
And allow me to cater to the multitude of pantheons
For I am godless, faithless, and cannot be trusted.
Right?
