In the lonely moment where the morning star appears,
Between the beating of the waves against the shore at sundown,
And most of all, between my shaky breaths.
I reach for you before I close my eyes and hope,
Hope against hope, night after night
That you'll return my tug, my pull, my insistent howling...
And join me once more between the sandman grains.
I hope your war's won, your bounty collected,
Your ships on their way back home to my shores
And please know, as your eyes flutter shut and you sail west,
I'll stand on the cliffs to summon you home.
