Snap

Did you feel it too? When the rubber band snapped
And all that was there was the welt it left behind?
Did you feel the Arctic wind that blew through you
As if the Poles had moved inside your chest,
Locked in the cage I used to sit in?
Did you taste blood on your tongue when everything broke?
Did your hands tremble too? Did your soul ache?

No. You felt nothing because you've been robotic for years...
Your circuits shorted long ago in a bath of my blood
And your electric current doesn't match mine anymore.
It's been long since your morphine induced coma took over
And you're not the same man you once were.
The poetry is gone from your veins and there's no beauty anymore..
Had you felt it too, you would have cried out.

I felt it briefly and tried to hide from the radiation
Beneath boulders of regrets and broken dreams,
My throat was parched from screaming so no sound escaped...
Nothing left my lips but the blood from the hemorrhage.
I felt the tremble of my ribs as the band snapped,
Taking with it the bars that kept me caged, kept me yours...
And now I'm a twisted kind of free.

Did you feel it too? When the rubber band snapped...
And everything that kept us tied drifted at sea,
Lost among angry waves of disillusionment
We could never recover from... we shouldnt.
