Darkness

In the darkness I would bear my soul for you to see
If I was sure, my dear, you would not run in fear...
I wonder, though, if there's something I'm missing,
Something I lack, perhaps?
In the darkness I surrender whole and as I am to you,
I'd fall upon my knees and hear your words...
But not for your approval nor would I submit
To something so trivial as your approval.
I'd ask for your thoughts but watch your step, my dear,
For the darkness commands and I have to listen...
Just like the devils in the stories or the dragons in the castles,
I have to go to and listen to my masters.
